Port Arthur was a jail for convicts sent from England for crimes that were sometimes as trivial as stealing a loaf of bread. These people were treated harshly and several were hanged there. Ghosts are heard and seen roaming through the grounds and cries are emitted from the long disused cells.
In every these cases the ghosts are somehow associated with untimely and tragic deaths.
Borley Rectory in England is another that grips the mind in fear. It is actually supposedly here during the time of the ownership from the site from the Catholic Church that a priest fell crazy about a nun plus they planned to elope together. It involved a coachman who had been part of the plot. They were learned and also the priest was hung, the coachman was beheaded and the nun was bricked up inside the abbey.
It is the ghost in the nun that is apparently seen on occasions and the coach is heard driving off.
